The Tomb of Nefertari
The Left Side:
The arrangement is carved and painted in vivid color in 6 columns, written in a way to make space for the figure of Khepri and to fit with the text that makes reference to him. The arrangement is read left to right and is oriented vertically (LRV) we know this by reading into the glyphs as if you are speaking with the figures, and animals etc. Here are provided the Transliteration (TRL), Egyptology Speak (ES), and Translation (TRS) for each column:
Column 1:
TRL: /Dd mdw di.n.(i) n.k nHH mi ra/
ES: ‘djed medew di en ee en ek neheh mi Ra’
TRS: “Words spoken, I have given you everlastingness like Ra.”
Column 2:
TRL: /Dd mdw di.n.(i) n.k xa ra m pt/
ES: ‘djed medew di en ee en ek kha Ra em pet’
TRS: “Words Spoken, I have given to you the appearance of Ra in heaven.”
Column 3:
TRL: /Dd mdw di.n.(i) n.k st m tA Dsr/
ES: ‘djed medew di en ee en ek set em ta djeser’
TRS: “Words Spoken, I have given to you a place in the sacred land.”
Columns 4-6:
TRL: /xpri Hr ib nSmt.f nTr aA/
ES: ‘Khepri her-ib neshmet ef netcher aa’
TRS: “Kheperi, the great god, resides in his boat.”
All together:
“Words spoken, I have given you everlastingness like Ra. Words Spoken, I have given to you the appearance of Ra in heaven. Words Spoken, I have given to you a place in the sacred land. Kheperi, the great god, who resides in his boat.”
